Enabling SMS and MMS in Ringotel

Enabling SMS and MMS in Ringotel

Ringotel offers flexible options for enabling SMS and MMS functionality for softphone users, allowing you to connect through SIP SIMPLE, API integration, or out-of-the-box messaging platform integrations.

1. Enabling SMS via SIP SIMPLE

Ringotel supports SIP SIMPLE for basic SMS messaging, allowing you to enable SMS functionality without additional integration. To activate SMS:

  • Go to Ringotel ConnectionFeatures tab

  • Select Enable SMS and choose the desired settings

This setup is ideal if you need straightforward SMS functionality without MMS or advanced messaging capabilities.

For this integration to work, your PBX and/or your carrier must support SIP SIMPLE

2. Advanced SMS/MMS with Ringotel Messaging API

For a more robust messaging experience with MMS support, integrate your existing messaging service using our Messaging API. This option provides extensive control and advanced messaging features.

3. Out-of-the-Box Integrations with Messaging Platforms

Ringotel seamlessly integrates with various messaging platforms, enabling SMS and MMS with just a few clicks. Supported platforms include Twilio, Telnyx, Bandwidth, BulkVS, VoipInnovations, and others.

  • Setup: Navigate to an organization → Integrations tab in your Ringotel admin portal and select your preferred messaging provider

  • More Information: Integration Guide

Alternatively, if you have a custom messaging solution, you can connect it to Ringotel using our JSON framework integration:

Additional Features with Ringotel Messaging Integrations
